EITC and Credit Unions Publicado en febrero 25, 2013 el 3:31 pmEscrito por VFCU - Valley Federal Credit Union Tax time is stressful for everyone. Credit unions are offering tax assistance to their members and the NCUA is reminding them to inform their members of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This tax credit can be extremely welcome, especially to low-income families. Since its inception in 1975, it has been a continual incentive to hard working Americans. The EITC was made for people with families and is based on income but is also available for single individuals. Credit unions mission is to provide members help in meeting their credit needs and their savings needs. During tax season, they can assist their members by providing tax preparation assistance. The NCUA has recently provided credit unions under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Initiative up to $25,000 in grants to those who offered tax assistance programs for their members.
